Lion King
Growing up The Lion King was my favorite Disney movie. I loved the music, the story, and the great messages it provided. As discussed in my Aladdin post, Disney has been making "live action" films of originals. The Lion King is the latest addition.
In every sense, the new Lion King stays true to the original. They don't eliminate anything, and there are no new songs like the other live action films. This is just a new fancy Lion King, with amazing special effects and extremely realistic visuals. There were times I almost forgot the animals weren't real. Although it seems this would make it better, I had a hard time getting used to it. I felt as if I was watching Planet Earth, and voices were being dubbed onto the characters. The special effects are almost too good, and take away from emotion that can be shown with cartooning. It may be I just I favor the original, because that's what I grew up with; but the film didn't work like I thought it would. I'm curious how younger generations will react to it, and which version they will prefer. That being said, The Lion King is still really good, with perfect casting and maintaining the story.
