Twin Anchors
Chicago is not really known for it's BBQ, and to be quite honest, I'm okay with that. That's not to say I don't enjoy ribs and wings, they're just not of the highest priority for my dining experience. Twin Anchors is known to be some of the best ribs in Chicago, and has been around a very long time.
In short, the ribs were cooked very well, but the sauce was nothing special. It had a ketchup-like flavor, and was very bland. I'm no expert, but I recently dabbled in cooking ribs. Number one, it's not easy. Number two, I got dead last with my wife's cousin in a family competition. However, all of the contestants (including us) had a great sauce and rub. In fact, one year someone won by solely using Sweet Baby Rays. For this reason, Twin Anchors has no excuse. On a side note, their onion rings are some of the best I've ever had.
Ambiance of the restaurant was dull. The place hasn't been updated in years, and has that old bar smell. They seem to be relying on reputation, as well as old faithful customers. Albeit, they were packed on a Friday night and I had to sit at the bar unless I wanted to partake in a 90min wait. They will continue to be successful, but I probably won't be returning.
